VISHNU - NARAYANA

 WHY IS MAHAVISHNU CALLED NARAYANA?

NARAYANA - KANTI

LEGEND There are two Avatar's of Varaha, out of which our current Kalpa is Known as Shweta Varaha Kalpa. The name of the Kalpa before 5 kalpas of the present Kalpa was known as Varaha Kalpa. In the current Kalpa, the Varaha Avatar came out of the nostrils of Brahma and was white complexioned or Shweta against the Blue complexion of Vishnu, hence this Kalpa is called the SHWETA VARAHA KALPA. Before beginning of this Kalpa, the LINGOTHBHAVAR incident happened. In the dual for supremacy between Vishnu & Brahma, Shiva manifested himself as a fiery lingam or Agni-Sthambha. Brahma assumed the form of a swan and flew upwards and Vishnu took the form of a white complexioned boar ( Shwetha= White, Varaha= Boar) to find the start and end of the Agni-Sthambha.

Both of them failed, however Brahma lied that he has seen the Shikhar of the Lingam (and took the falling Ketaki flower from heavens as his witness) and hence is cursed by Shiva not to have Temples or festivals of his own. The Thazhampoo or Ketaki flower is not used for worship of Lord Shiva. After the Pralaya or destruction in the last Kalpa everything was submerged under water. There was water every where and Mahavishnu was sleeping on the waters. NARA means water. AYANA means resting place and hence Mahavishnu is known as "NARAYANA". Mother earth was stuck in the deep waters of the nether world. Vishnu in the form of Shweta Varaha dove deep into the waters (NARA) of the nether world and lifted Bhoomadevi on his white tusks, brought her above the water and provided her with an axis (Ayana) to float above the waters and self sustain and hence he is known as "NARAYANA".

There are two Ayana of six months where the earth tilts on its northern and southern axis known as the Uttarayana & Dakshinayana. One who resides (Ayana) in all Nara(Living beings). One who resides (Ayana) in all Jeevas(Nara), one who rests or sleeps (Ayana) on water (Nara). ICONOGRAPHY TWENTY-FOUR IMAGES OF VISHNU. There are twenty-four images of Mahavishnu as per RUPAMANDANA and are very much alike ; they are all standing figures, with no bends in the body, possessing four arms, and adorned with the Kirita-crown and other ornaments ; each of them stands upon a Padmasana. The differentiation is in the holding of the Shankha, chakra, Gada & Padma in twenty four variations. Upper right hand ,Upper left hand, Lower left hand, Lowee right hand. NARAYANA -Padma (Lotus) - Gada (Koumodaki, Mace) - Chakra (Sudarshana,Discus) - Shankha (Panchajanya, Conch). KANTI is the consort of Lord NARAYANAYA. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10218648296414562&id=1112401419 https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10217315970227240&id=1112401419 https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10218741569306326&id=1112401419
